New flat!

Was talking to Web last night when we realised need to prepare quite abit of documents for the flat application today. Worse was I cannot seem to dial into my pc since Sunday, always happened when I need it. Forgot to send Web's income document in soft copies and lucky managed to get them from his sentbox using his webmail. After we hung up, I continued to gather all the documents and finished almost 2am. Couldn't get to sleep after that coz drank too much tea during the day and had to wake up b4 7am today as need to be at HDB by 7.45am.

Woke up feeling stone and reached Toa Payoh Interchange b4 7.45am and decided to go down to the mrt stn to grab a copy of TODAY when someone behind grabbed my papers. Really woke me up and realised its Web, who surprisingly changed to mrt instead of taking bus all the way here (gonna take him almost an hr).

We were the 1st ones to reach and the counters only open at 8am. One couple reached shortly after but we still managed to get the 1st in queue at the registration counter (must be kiasu!). When we get the price list, we were both very shocked by the price of the flat we wanted as its way above what we expected. As the unit was an executive one, we would thought it will not exceed $270K coz its lower floor but it turned out costing $288.6K! We still decided to get it else will risk losing it after they are relased to the open market. Just need to take a couple more years loan...

It was then rushing to the 3rd floor to make payment for the registration fee of $10 then back to the counter on the 1st floor to submit the documents, then booking of the flat. Web had to go up to the 3rd floor again to make payment for the option fee of $2K and back again. Really dun understand why they must put the cashiers on the 3rd floor and make people go up and down during the application process.

Finally completed all the necessary steps and now just need to wait for the loan application (within 2 weeks) and collection of keys within 3 months. We then had our breakfast at Koufu then spent time discussing details etc. We also surveyed Courts to check out furniture and electrical appliances prices then finally to the library to browse through design books then headed home to rest.

Overdue updates

Ooh haven't been blogging since last Thursday. Been quite busy and no inspiration to blog, and probably too tired when I do have time in front of the computer. Let me recap some past events...

Thursday
Met sis for ktv after work and she made me "love lunch box" with my favourites - fried rice with egg and luncheon meat, with fried prawns and 2 slices of luncheon meat!

Only sang until 11pm+ as we were both out of songs and tired although going to be on leave the next day.

Friday
Web had planned to meet his pals to celebrate one of their birthday but ended up kean flew aeroplane by the birthday boy. Kind of expected coz its not the 1st time but these frens are probably too innocent... hahaha... Anyway prior to that, my company's CNY dinner was supposed to be the same day but I decided to skip since boss din disagree. While Web continued on with his other fren to catch up, I took leave and went shopping with sis. Woke up late, towards noon thus only started shopping near to 3pm after lunch at home and slowly rolling out of the house. Was in Orchard and wanted to get out b4 the Chingay preview but still missed the last 36 when we planned to go to the airport. Had to walk to the bus stop at Far East Plaza and eventually headed to Raffles City area. Had dinner there followed by more shopping and then relaxed at the cafe at the new opened basement area until almost 10.30pm.

Saturday
Went over to Web's house after lunch as we need to go to the geomancy centre at Gullimard Road to get good dates for our customary wedding. The master was the famous "Yiu Rong Zi" thus cost us $168 for the service. He gave us 7 dates from the lunar 8th month and we need to go back again 2 months prior to the date we chosen to ge auspicious time etc for the actual day and some miscellaneous matters relating the house. Took us quite a while as the master starting chatting unrelated matters and smoked non stop inside the room. It was until Web's mum asked about the dates then he started getting serious in his work.

Web's mum headed home while we took a bus to Suntec City and shopped around. We finally bought our wedding bands at Lee Hwa after checking out Goldheart and still think that the former is better in terms of design and worksmanship. It took us quite a while as the rings need to match both of taste and liking. Finally settled on a pair which costs ard 1.1k, which the price was suprisingly quite reasonable and way below our budget. Collection will be on 6 Mar 07 so will probably collect Friday the same week.

We then had dinner at Marina Square's food court and shopped a while b4 settling down at some seats away from the crowd (near Gain City) and played Uno and chatted. We then slowly walked back to the mrt and took train home,

Sunday
Its a tiring day for both of us as we started house surveying at Sengkang. Took bus 159 while Web boarded near his home and we stopped at Sengkang Bus Interchange 1st as we need to buy a compass. We then walked to the blocks of flats we were eyeing and starting braving through rain and shine to select our preferred unit. Eventually decided on the area where its brighter and windy. We had also decided to take urgent leave on Monday to go down to HDB to quickly grab the flats b4 they are released to private agencies into the open market. The previous batch relased received so good responses thus we were quite worried. Buying a resale and new flat only differs a bit so we preferred to get a new one.

Took a bus to the nearby bus interchange (also Sengkang mrt stn) as it was pouring heavily. Had dinner at the Kopitiam food court and ate my favourite claypot chicken rice there. Shopped and hanged around until 10pm+ then we took 159 home. Web alighted halfway as usual (in fact only 4 stops away) while I slowly "yao yao" back to Toa Payoh. Almost fell asleep on the bus and worse when I missed 2 buses (59 & 231). Really cun stop yawning while I was at the bus stop.

Last day of working for me this week

Finally called to make an appointment with Master You Long Zi on Saturday 4pm. But actually have to go at 4pm and will see the master on a 1st come 1st serve basis, dunno what appointment is it called... just like in hospitals clinics. The service is a bit ex at $168 to just count a date but I guess worth it if everything goes well in future, better to play safe.

Woke up abit late but still able to reach office b4 8.30am after buying breakfast from downstairs. After drinking a cup of tea, I went to the loo 3 times and having on and off stomachache... dunno what happen again... hai~

My boss and one colleague are back to work today and obviously not as peaceful as yesterday. Hopefully the day will past quite fast and looking forward to be on leave tomorrow! But still need to run daily sales job tomorrow morning coz colleague is still on leave. I would rather do at home then go back to sleep abit more then coming here and take half day leave, abit waste time. sometimes.

Back to work on 4th day of CNY

Woke up feeling ok but tired coz haven't been waking up so early for the past 4 days. As expected, office was damn quiet although some users were already back to work. Me and colleague practically stayed at our place the whole day. As for me, almost spent the whole day having conference with Web coz both of us were quite free.

We talked about our plans and now need to get started by going to this shifu "You Long Zi" who is supposed to be quite famous to count dates for our ROM (or customary). Need to make appointment for consulation tomorrow as they are still closed for today. After that, we can then proceed to get a flat, probably at Sengkang and so on. Was chatting with Susan, who just got her keys to a Sengkang flat recently. We had wanted to wait for the next batch of WIS (Walk-in Selection) for new flats to try get a 4 or 5 room one but Susan mentioned that very difficult to get as those in front of the queue would have reserved all the good units (in terms of locations and floors). She and hubby had no choice but to get an Exec unit which is slightly more ex. We might just go along and get one of those areas where we went earlier to look at the showroom last month.

Really not easy to get married these days. Flats are not easy to get, quite expensive especially if we end up getting exec units. The government is not making our lives easy even though they encourage us to have more kids. How to get married if cannot get a flat, and how to survive if they are so expensive? Where do we find extra cash after investing in a home with renovations burden to have kids? Then on top of it all, they had to increase GST where some families are hardly surviving. Even if people have kids, education (kids and parents included) in Singapore is so damn stressed. 2-3 year s old kids have to go playgroup then nursery, followed by kindergarten at 4-5 years old. When I saw an assessment book for K1 at Popular the other day, I almost fainted. Those teachings were taught in Pri 1 or 2 last time in our era! How to survive I ask you...

Din want to have kids at 1st after thinking all these factors (environment and age) but on the other hand, life without kids will be damn boring for a married couple, especially into old age. Once married, life would be so different as we need to take up different responsibilities, challenge and committments. I would definitely miss my carefree days of going shopping, tour or even KTV with sis. Time with friends will also be limited as there will be endless household chores to do. Sis even wrote me a letter yesterday to say how much she will miss me in future, which makes me feel more bu she de and sad. I guess this is part of life as we need move on to different stage of our lives as we grow older, just in a matter of time. But I am glad that friends ard me are very supportive and offered help if necessary on any house or marriage matters. Thanks all!

Will try to make an effort to spend more time with my sis and hopefully can bring her for a tour this year b4 I get married. We had plans to visit Hong Kong again, plus Taiwan and maybe Bangkok this year so hopefully can fulfill. Have to also control my spending from now on coz gonna save up for new house stuff (renovation, furniture, electrical applicances and utility bills etc.) slowly.

3rd day of CNY

Wow so fast its the 3rd day of CNY. As usual, had a late night and woke up 9am+ and prepared to go out. Parents and sis stayed home today while I met Web for visit to friends' house. We started off going to Web's friend's house at Sembawang and stayed for couple of hrs b4 slowly taking bus, train then bus again to my friend's place at Hougang, somewhere near Web's house.

It was raining so heavily at YCK area but lucky no rain at all in Hougang. No wonder my friend Choo Li was so surprised when I mentioned rain when she called me to check what time I will be arriving. Singapore's weather really weird sometimes...

Anyway we din stay long at Choo Li's house coz there were too many people and Web felt so unfortable and bored there. I did not even have much chance to catch up with Choo Li and Helen (both were my ex-classmates from Pre-U) who were there with her hubby and son too. I felt bad having to leave early but bo bian, Web dun like those friends of mine, saying they were so talkative. Really dun understand guys... if I can be tolerative to his friends, why cun he do that same. Anyway lesson learnt, will be bring him along next year to any of my friend's place again. Now I finally see an anti-social and sort of shy side of him, dunno to be happy or sad... I was feeling quite upset by the time we left but bo bian, dun want to start an arguement, especially during CNY.

I guess I am already very seasoned by now to control my anger and unhappiness in whatever situations. No point to be angry and start an arguement when both parties are feeling fed up. I guess this also comes with age, we will see things in a different light as we grow up (or old). Its not easy to maintain human relationships if everyone just do his own way and hurt people along the way. So just have to be positive and strive to be a better person...

So anyway, we took a bus back to AMK to have dinner at A* but not much stalls were open. Even the Zhi Cha only served CNY menu, trying make quick bucks. We then walked ard Popular at Jubilee then to MOS Burger for a drink and UNO cards game b4 heading home.

So fast CNY is coming to an end (public holidays actually) and its back to work tomorrow. Lucky my boss will be on leave and only left me and one colleague in my dept. Initially wanted to take leave but since everyone else will be away, not so nice to leave my colleague alone. My boss also not happy if not much people in our dept, dunno what's her issue as most colleagues will be not in anyway. Decided will take leave on Friday to have a full day shopping with sis.

2nd day of CNY

It was another late night as I was chatting with sis till dunno wat time. Today is the 2nd of of CNY and also my maternal grandma's birthday. It had been a tradition to celebrate this grandma's birthday with lunch, cake and red eggs, usually at my 8th uncle's house. However, by 11am we had thought its the same arrangement until some cousin called and said lunch will be at Fortute Ate Restaurant in Toa Payoh Central. It was a last minute decision coz 7th uncle thought 8th uncle will plan, but 8th uncle thought 7th uncle planning, then no time to cater for food. Wabiang these people really one kind, dunno what is telephone and communication, and they are brothers ok.

They had suggested some of us go down to the restaurant to wait for tables (and we need at least 4!) but I tried calling them 1st. They dun accept reservations and we anticipated it will be damn crowded so tried to dissuade them. Luckily 8th uncle finally became smart and decided to order fast food (like pizza and KFC) and had it at his house anyway. It was almost 12 by then so we skipped going to 2nd aunt's house 1st and waited for brother and Peggy to come over then off to 8th uncle's house.

As usual, we were the 1st to arrive (same every year no matter how dillay dally we were). We hanged around while waited for all to arrive b4 starting lunch. Most of the relatives here we only see once a year thus not close to them, even the cousins. Moreover most of them are parents already so we just mingled around our own family.

They had planned to visit 2nd aunt who is sort of sick at home coz she just had an operation some time ago due to cancer of her tongue and undergoing physiotheraphy now. It was getting late as I planned to leave by 3pm but my parents dilly dally until everyone left when we finally left by 4pm. Decided to skip 2nd aunt's house coz supposed to meet Web and visit a friend. End up too late so postponed the visit to tomorrow.

We then went to a temple at Balestier Road. It was almost quite disastrous for me coz my eyes were so pierced by the smoke from the incense, so much so that my tears kept flowing down and not able to get a tissue out. Finally finished praying then washed my hands to clear my poor eyes. I guess I never held so much incense at one go in my whole life thus dunno how to handle (direction of the wind to avoid smoke getting into my eyes). After that, we took a bus down to Orchard and had dinner at Cineleisure's Yoshinoya.

Most of the shopping centres were still closed thus we sat around at the closed food court in Cineleisure to play UNO until they switched off the lights. We then went to TCC at Peranakan Place for some drinks and snacks and more UNO b4 heading home.

1st day of CNY

Its 1st day of the Chinese New Year and we woke up b4 11am to prepare to go over to grandma's house just few doors away. Slept around 2am last night and felt goggy but bo bian. Peggy came by ard 11am and went over 1st as she will be leaving for JB with her parents. Brother was due to be back from dunno which country around 5pm+. Web came by after his templed visit and his grandma's house. Went over slightly towards 12 noon, just in time for steamboat lunch.

Most cousins were already there and eating. We joined in as grandma kept pushing us. She was so funny coz kept cooking food for Web and we all had a good laugh. It was then sitting around and waited for everyone (cousins) to finish lunch as we started to play some UNO games. They started off with UNO stacko then some of us played UNO cards until we need to make a move at 3pm.

The rest of the day was spent at Web's house and we had dinner there. It was a tiring day as I already felt headache (due to lack of sleep) around evening time. Stayed until 10.30pm+ then took a cab home.

Eve of Eve - Chinese New Year

Still need to work 2day but luckily boss said can go off at 3pm if not too bz. Went out lunch with colleagues to pre celebrate CNY. Hanged around and wanted to wait for boss to go home 1st but she's still not leaving ard 4pm but kept coming to rush us to leave. Finally left at 4.30pm coz need to make a trip to OG Rochor to search for a top then to John Little to exchange mum's top b4 meeting Web. Messaged my colleague as I left after toking to my boss and said she will be leaving at 5pm but he replied saying she left straight after me... nabei very fake... must wait for me to leave 1st... waste my time!

We had dinner at the Orchard Point food court then followed by shopping at John Little then OG for Web's new year clothes. Finally bought 5 polo tees at Giordano OG and a pair of Levi's jeans. We then settled down at the Mac at Centrepoint for a drink and rest.

Eve of CNY

Its a busy today as we need to eat reunion dinner at 2 locations - Web's and my house. Left home at 1pm+ and took a cab to Web's house. We stayed awhile at his place 1st b4 going out to buy stuff at Hougang Mall then make our way back to his house for dinner. My shoes were hurting me as I wore it for the 2nd time.

We had dinner early at 5pm+ coz we need to come back to my place for another 7.30pm dinner. Looks like its gonna be like that in future. Lucky I din eat much at his place so still got place for food cooked by my sis. We then looked at some old photos when I was small then watchd TV abit and went out for a stroll with Web b4 he headed home.

It will be a busy day from tomorrow but still need to stay up for quite abit later - tradition for kids to prolong parents' lives by staying up as late as possible.

Gong Xi Fa Cai in advance!

CNY shopping

Bz again the whole day and left the office almost at 6.30pm and obviously was running late coz meeting sis for shopping. Lucky she's at home so told her to leave only when I am ready. Quite fed up this week coz stayed back late for few days just becoz my temp is on leave. Its probably bad timing he took leave during this period which we thought would not be too bz.

Since the plan for the office restacking (renovation for expansion) started, we have been bz non stop. Main problem is we are seriously running out of phone lines. While we are trying to cut lines, more staff are expected to come in progressively thus need to get new extensions ready. In the midst, some extensions cannot work or some ports were found to be faulty. Like today, the engineer checked one line from 4pm+ till dunno what time, as I left and handed over to my colleague at 6.30pm. On Tuesday, I stayed till almost 7pm just waiting for some programming jobs to be done by my vendor since 2.30pm and not yet completed by the time I left. There were some problems thus my colleague took over. Really shag man...

Initially planned to take mum out but she fly us aeroplane last min. I went ahead to meet sis as need to get some new clothes (very last min). As I was already quite late, almost one hour wasted so we met at Somerset mrt stn and ate Burger King. No time for slow food...

Started off with John Little and we bought 2 blouses for mum and I managed to buy 2 pieces too. Ended up one blouse was too big for mum thus need to go back tomorrow to exchange. Proceeded to Robinsons at Centrepoint but nothing much coz no sale and no nice clothes. Went to OG and had wanted to buy 1 turquoise top but its the last piece and some sewing came off. Thinking more will come off in future even though can repair in the meantime so decided better dun buy. Saw another piece but it fitted abit tight so not quite advisable to get too. No harvest at OG afterall.

We then walked to Taka for a brief while and then to Starbucks at Wisma to relax and have a drink. We managed to get some comfortable sofa seats and sat till almost 10.30pm then left for home.

Actually been couple of years I din really get new clothes coz not in the mood. This year bo bian coz gonna have some visitations to do so better get some. Luckily I still got some seldom worn skirts so save some money on new ones. I never had problems buying skirts but cannot manage to get suitable tops at all. So now thinking not so bad la, can buy 2 blouses within an hour of shopping... just enough for CNY.

Ok time for bed soon, coz never able to sleepy early at all these days...

The bridge will straighten when the ship is near

All I can say is I am really getting old. Suddenly got the yawning spell and realised its been days since I had a good sleep and it will be hectic this coming weekend, also the coming CNY. Cun seem to sleep too early coz either not tired enough, or find it a waste of time when I can do something else like watching youtube (or rarely TV), doing sudoku or just lazing around. Haven't got the mood to do spring cleaning for my room too, never been a tradition for me anyway. Got mood, anytime can do...

Was planning with Web the other about this coming CNY, how bz we gonna be then started to panic coz haven't got any new clothes. Its probably time to dig out clothes bought long ago and never or seldom worn as obviously no time and mood to shop for new ones now. Still going shopping tonite with mum and sis, mainly to bring mum shop for her stuff and who knows, might just get lucky and found something for myself.

Went dinner at Sakae Sushi last nite, as we wanted to avoid all places that serve only Valentine's menu. Most restaurants came up with expensive menus to attract couples and we din want to spend so much and let them earn. We were lucky to get seats just before a long queue was formed behind us and settled dinner within an hour. Was strolling around Marina Square then bumped into one fren while she was in the queue at another restaurant with her boyfriend.

We then found some seats just outside Gain City and sat down to pass time, chat and watched the boring shows on the display TV sets. Web suddenly got abit melancholy and started talking about some worries and problems. Sort of spoil the mood but I guess there are some things we need to face anytime. He was worried that there will be no one to take care of his parents after marriage. To me, I felt that since we will be staying quite nearby so should be ok. What he said is true and not all worries are unfound but I guess he need not worry too much. Even though he has a sis, but she's mentally below her age (due to a fever when she was small) thus not quite able to take care of his parents thus increased his worries.

My sis kept asking me why I need to move so far away but I guess I dun have a choice. I guess there are alot of things my sis still dun understand as she is still young. Being a son, Web has the responsibility to take care of his parents just like my brother, who is living near us (just opposite our block). Given a choice, I would of coz want to be near my parents as well but I cun be so selfish. I guess its fair that sons should stay near parents and if they did, at least we are consoled that they are not unfilial. As for daughters, married out liao bo bian lor...

Thinking, after marriage there will be more worries and problems, so no point thinking too much. As the saying goes "the bridge will straighten when the ship is near"...

Happy Valentine's Day!!

Happy Valentine's Day!!

Its mid week already and as usual, had been extremely bz for past few days. Day time bz with work, nite time bz with taiwan serials again. I even stayed till almost 7pm last nite as my vendor was still doing the programming for some new extensions. Am watching "花樣少年少女" now and managed to catch a few videos while waiting for my vendor. There were subsequently some problems thus passed to my colleague to handle as I made my way home. 1st time reached home in the dark (ard 7pm+ to 8pm). The other day my boss was nagging at us again to act act and dun go home so punctual coz some directors had moved to sit at our area. I dun see what's the big deal so treated her words as bullshit. Told my colleague we should leave at 5.31pm in future. And you know what, she even had the cheek to leave at 6pm yesterday!

at the 12th episode. Its still showing so have to wait for people to load in again. Channel U is also going to start showing this serial from tomorrow evening at 7pm so decided to catch it 1st at youtube. Quite a nice and funny show... worth watching.

Whenever I start getting hooked to such serials, tend to watch until midnight plus thus surely wake up late and tired the next morning. Not much difference this morning as I woke up with a slight headache so took a cab to work. Almost turning into Beach Road, this stupid car and my cab almost banged each other as the former tried to cut into our lane. The taxi driver was so angry as the stupid driver kept horning non-stop and took a picture of his taxi. Seriously dunno what exactly is going on as I was still stoning until I heard horns then followed by the taxi driver's curse. The next thing I knew, the taxi stopped at the side and alighted to scold the driver just behind us. Wabiang really gave me a fright ok. Wanted to ask the uncle dun delay my time but he was too fast for me. Lucky no fight broke out and the uncle continued to curse and swear when he returned to the taxi. He then took down the vehicle no. of the other car (also dunno for what) as I reached office. What a morning!

Finally collected my shoes yesterday during lunch. Its been sent to the 2nd service since b4 Xmas. Supposed to collect them sometime after Xmas but realised they repaired the wrong parts so were sent back again. They are now back in time for today and my CNY wear coz not much nice and comfortable shoes...

Pre-Valentine's Day celebration

Booked a room at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront hotel for the weekend to celebrate Valentine's Day in advance as it falls on a Wednesday. Will just go for dinner on the day itself but till now, no idea where to go yet.

The room we had this time was on the 18th floor and abit smaller than the one we stayed last Xmas. This room also did not have any bathtub but only a standing shower. View was quite nice though, can see the Singapore River (Robertson Quay view) and few hotels opposite (Holiday Inn Atrium, Copthorne King and Furama Riverfront Hotel).

Sis and Xris were nearby the at Furama Riverfront Hotel having dinner with the David Tao fan club and has wanted to drop by but told her better dun coz Web said no privacy. Anyway they wun be able to go up without the key card and we were still outside having dinner.

Dinner was at the Tiong Bahru Hawker centre just within 10 mins walk and we even packeted chicken rice for supper and some beer. Watched TV all the way until 2am where I fell alseep while Web continued to watch till 4am when I woke up to join him for a while b4 hitting the bed again. He had too much coffee during the day till cun get to sleep where I had almost 5 cups of tea but still able to sleep. But when I am at home, tea will make me awake whole nite, really weird!

Checked out ard 2pm and took a bus to Tiong Bahru Plaza for lunch. Came home took a rest and cun helped it but fell asleep and napped till 6pm. Had to prepare for our early family reunion dinner as brother is due to fly off tomorrow and only back on evening of 1st day of the lunar new year. Brother brought us to this coffeeshop in Ang Mo Kio, just across the AMK Hub and the place was damn crowded! The food was cheap and nice, no wonder attracted so much people. But luckily the food was served quite fast and service was good even though its just a stall in the coffeeshop.

Dropped dad off at TPY Central CC for his badminton game as we proceeded to shop around in TPY central. Walked among the crowds at the Pasar Malam and then decided to change location and went to NTUC at HDB Hub. Bought quite alot of stuff coz got car then went back to the CC and fetch dad as we headed home.

Its been a warm and tired weekend, and its gonna be bz tomorrow with the move of some depts thus hope wun oversleep and stone. Monday are always tiring...

Updates again

Its been few days since I last posted an entry. Cun really remember events that happened over the past few days... think really going old...

Thursday
Went KTV with the gals (finally!) last night and it was sort of last min. Lesson learnt - should not plan too advance in future... Anyway 3 of us reached early and had dinner at MOS Burger and checked in 1st while waiting for sis and Angeline to arrive. Quite enjoyable as the 3 younger gals sang up-to-date songs while 2 of us ancient gals sang older numbers. Surprised that the one who got tired 1st was Hui then followed by the 2 younger gals (Xris and sis). I was still doing quite well with Angeline except that its too cold in there and we both forgot our jackets! Showed that old dun mean frail ok! Left ard 12am while Angeline took a cab home herself and we got a lift from Xris in her cab.

Wednesday
Went salon with sis to do treatment and colour for our hair. Its almost CNY and we wun want to wait till the last min. I did my colour treatment again but this time I think the hairdresser used the wrong colour (red instead of pink) thus it turned out not so striking but a bit orangy red. Also did a moisture treatment as my hair roots are getting quite dry. Trimmed my hair abit too. Sis did brown highlights and scalp treatment.

Sick day

Threw up my dinner last nite as I felt indigestion and tummy abit weird weird b4 going to bed. Couldn't really get to sleep last nite maybe due to the tea earlier. Went to work today despite feeling not too well but decided to surrender anyway towards mid morning. Since my colleague was also taking half day off, took a lift from her and went to the doctor 1st b4 going home to rest.

Watched some youtube clips while waiting for part of my lunch to digest and went to take a nap after that. Slept all the way till 5pm+ and woke up and prepared to go out with family (except dad coz he got badminton) for dinner to celebrate sis' and bro's birthday. Went to GWC again and had dinner at Siam Kitchen and took a walk while sis bought Ben & Jerry's ice cream. Bro then drove us down to Chinatown but it was too crowded so just passed by and then went to Vivocity. We only took a brisk walk at the top open level and it was very windy but quite dark as lighting wasn't so sufficient. It was quite dangerous as some people might just walk into the pool unknowingly due to the poor visibility.

It was then to Diaso and we shopped around while I felt tummyache again and went to the toilet in between. Took mum to sit outside while waiting for the rest to finish shopping. It was then another ride down AYE, ECP, Sheares Bridge then PIE back home.

Shopping day!

Took leave today and went out with sis. Started off with lunch at Long John Silvers at Toa Payoh Central as sis wanted to buy beads from a shop nearby. Took a bus (no. 8) down to Tampines after that and it took us almost one hr coz the lady driver was like on a leisure ride. The bus was moving damn slow and the aircon not cold on a hot weather thus was quite torturous.

Shopped at Century Square 1st and sis managed to buy 2 tops at the 1st shop we stopped. Nothing else to buy as we combed through the building and to Tampines Mall. It was then tea time as we settled down at the food court beside the interchange for some tim sum and dessert.

Carrying a full stomach, we walked abit b4 taking a bus (no. 31) down to Parkway Parade. Surprised that the journey took almost 1/2 hr but lucky this time the driver was ok and the aircon quite shiok. The weather was suddenly extremely warm as we quickly went indoors. Sis saw a top at Espirit but too bad out of stock for the size she wanted. Bought a shampoo for myself and a perfume (CK Electric - Limited Edition) for Web as Valentine Day's gift.

It was already almost 6pm by then as we last stopped by a titbits shop and bought more food stuff before taking yet another bus (no. 36) down to Orchard. We alighted near Cineleisure so popped in wanted to shop abit but decided to have dinner 1st when we spotted the Xin Wang HK Cafe. Had a nice bowl of "Luncheon Meat with Fried Egg noodles" while sis had "Fried Noodle with Fried Fish Fillet". We also shared a plate of "Beancurd Skin Prawns Rolls". The food was not bad but we were so full as we each had a cup of HK milk tea too.

Sis then bought 2 more blouses (or one of which can be worn as a dress too) and we walked down to Taka. Upon walking around and nothing much to buy, crossed over to Metro to buy the acne cream under Ettusais as I had a Metro $10 voucher to use. It was then back to Taka then Wisma b4 heading home on aching feets.

Weekend recap

Sunday
Went swimming again as the weather was quite good, after couple of hrs of pool. Managed to swim 20 laps this time, non-stop and my arm and back were aching quite badly after that. Left for the hawker centre for dinner and ha nged out at the library for a while b4 taking a walk at the central area before heading home.

Saturday
Woke up pretty late as usual on a Saturday and met Web in Orchard to take a shutter bus to Great World City again. Wanted to catch the movie "Apocalypto" and managed to get tickets this time for the 4.05pm slot. It was still awhile to go b4 the showtime so we had some snacks and drinks at Mac, while flipping through the classified ads for listings of flats for sale. Resale flats really cost quite alot so still hope can get new released flats soon.

The show was so so, but in their tribal language. Was telling Wed we improved so much as we watched a Spanish movie previously, now became tribal language. Its a "M18" show with violence and true enough, some scenes were really gross. Would say that unless nothing better to do then go and watch la. Some coupes even left midway through but we managed to stay throughout.

We took a bus down to Hotel Rendezvous and checked out the Palong Bar 1st and reserved a table to go back later. Wanted to have dinner but realised we were both not hungry thus only visited the Singapore Pools at Paradiz Centre then went back to sit and relax while waiting for the live match (Liverpool Vs Everton) to begin at 8.45pm. It was a draw and we both donated to charity again...

Its another Friday...

Bz afternoon as I rushed to finish my stuff and rushed off to meet Xris to pass her the VCDs. Will be on leave next Monday thus need to make sure no backlog else gonna suffer on Tue. Got an early meeting on Tue itself thus will have to catch up after that.

Took a bus down 2 bus stops and walked to Raffles City thinking I should be quite late as Xris knocked off at 5pm. Who knows when I reached, cun contact her as she din answer the phone calls and later after she replied my sms, realised she was just reaching. Aiya if I know she dilly dally, I would have walked there instead. Xris ah, next time pls let me know if you gonna be late lah, so I could plan my time properly instead of rushing like mad. I think everyone should have the habit of informing people if you are running late, out of respect and courtesy.

Anyway met Web to go Dhoby Ghaut and had dinner at the food court. Walked around abit and then sat down to chat until its time to go home. Lucky he dun need to stay back in office afterall else I dunno what to do on a Friday night...

Is queueing really so fun?

My insurance agent was so kind to call me this morning, telling me HDB released new flats in established estates under the WIS exercise today. Was still refreshing the HDB website but no time to look at it until she called. Xris told me that there was some news leak or so, and some people already started queueing up days ago. There were also people who passed by and saw the queue then joined in. Heard a fight broke out and the police had to come in. I really dun understand Singaporeans. Is queueing really so fun and applying for flats just like buying bread? No wonder people like us who wants to apply for a new flat genuinely are unable to do so due to the high demand. Really ridiculous, hope the government is able to do something about it. Good thing the locations weren't really where we wanted so perhaps no loss afterall.

Remember the time of the Hello Kitty craze? It was then that kiasu Singaporeans started have this bad habit of queueing overnight. Some areas even had fights breaking out and the whole sale was cancelled for that branch Served them right! Weird thing was that after that, there wasn't much enthusiasm for other toys at Mac. Even another Hello Kitty range launched din receive good responses. Perhaps its a trend, its more fun fighting with others. "No one queue, I also not interested".

Even in everyday lives, you see people queueing up. There will always be someone queueing up early in the morning outside the clinics when they will only be opened like 1-2 hrs later. This is worse in Polyclinics I heard, but haven't got chance to see it myself. I would rather spend more on GP then to go queue up and takes forever (at least 1/2 day gone) to see the doctor. Heard that some doctors even anyhow prescribe medicine. Come on people, get a life la, if you can afford to see GP, dun spoil market and fight with poorer people.

I even saw once, students queueing up at Junction 8 coz their idol was going to appear in 5 days' time. Can you imagine???? I remembered it was a Tuesday when I saw gates set up for people to queue and there were some students there already settled down, picnic-like in the queue. I was still wondering what was that for when I saw a poster saying some idol coming in on Sunday. I almost fainted ok... Later realised that on the actual day, the queue was all the way to near the Bishan swimming pool is, that is like ermm... go see the map la... dunno how to estimate. Really must give these people award for their patience in queueing up!!!

"This is to award Mr So & So for having the patience to queue up for a total of 120 hrs for the event held last week. With that, you have won yourself a priority queue in our next organised event! Congratulations!!"

Now, that's going to be quite interesting...

Sleepy Friday!!

I cannot imagine I am falling asleep just sitting here. My eyes are so heavy today... just coz I slept abit later than usual (12am++). How do those people tahan when they only sleep a few hrs a day? I hate this feeling... I miss my bed... Lucky its weekend already...

Was especially busy yesterday afternoon. More or less revolved around one user, who has been working from home dunno since when. She will only come back to office when she has a problem with her laptop or anything to do with it. She kept complaining her laptop is slow and now faulty (but not admitting she could have dropped it for such damages to be done). My boss being so kind and afraid of trouble (and her), decided to buy a new laptop for her. Its not going to solve the user's complaints but probably can keep her quiet for a while. I really dunno what kind of a stupid director (my boss) is that... never bothers to solve the problem but find the easy way out. It happened not just this time, but to some other users b4. But of coz they must be someone she is scared of, find useful of or in her good books. If anyone is on top of her blacklist, dun even dream of getting any of your wish fulfilled.

Not too busy this morning coz no mood to work. Partly coz its weekend and that I am so tired and sleepy. Also abit displeased coz Web might need to work late again. So much so for always kena server problem when he is on standby. Tough job...

New skincare!

Supposed to go KTV with the gals tonite but cancelled during the day due to unforseen circumstances. Long story...

Decided to jio sis for shopping instead so we met at Orchard and had dinner at Tangs Cafe. Had also wanted to check out the Laneige product range at the stores and find out more b4 buying. Went to the Metro branch 1st and the promoter really cannot make it. I think as a user, I know more about skincare than her. Can tell me skin care is only taking care of surface, not internal when I mentioned I have combination skin (inside oily, outside dry). I almost faint when I heard that... *many lines*.

Walked over to the Ettusias counter and I think the promoter was not any better. She said that moisturiser is better if its liquid form, not cream coz its better absorbed. Wa got such thing, then all the products from other brands cannot make it liao... Really dunno what to say. Another inexperienced promoter, how to get customers like that???

We then walked around M&S and Taka abit b4 dropping by at the Laneige counter at Isetan Orchard to try out the promoter. This one was so much better as she knows her stuff and able to recommend accordingly. We bought a few products (eye mask, sleeping mask, moisturiser and toner) to try out 1st.

After spending up to $150, we also got a free gift set.

Managed to apply for membership coz spent $120, so much lesser than MTM. Imagine we only spent $170 in total for 4 products whereby we can possibly only buy one or two products at MTM. Hopefully this brand is suitable for us so we could slowly switch over and get some big savings!

Shopped around abit at Topshop and tried some tops which were not suitable then proceeded to Starbucks for a drink and cheesecake. We managed to get some sofa seats (which is rare!) and chatted till ard 10.30pm then left for home.

Quite surprised that everywhere was not as crowded as expected on a Thursday (near to weekend). Felt like Monday while we were walking around, probably coz there was no sale going on yet and everyone should be waiting for pre-CNY sale.
