Dinner & Dance
We had our D&D finally last nite at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel. As mentioned, we were released at 3pm so that we have ample time to dress up. Our theme this year was "Back to School". The dressing up thus was not so much for some (like me) but more for those who needs to go home and change etc. I usually cun be bothered but not that totally bo chup but I will just try to dress normally but safely within the theme. Dun want to be in the limelight la...

Went MTM to blend my products as planned and shopped around Tangs, Paragon and then Great World City before walking over from GWC. Waited almost 20 mins for the shutter bus to GWC that I have no more strength to serously shop by then. Trying hard not to perspire too much before reaching the hotel, kept indoors and after cooling down, walked slowly to the hotel from GWC. It was only about one bus stop away so reached the hotel slightly b4 6pm. Some colleagues, especially the committee members, were already there. Helped abit to do registration as people started rolling in. It was pretty interesting seeing so many people going back to school. Many came dressed up in unforms and sure looked like students! Some more matured one dressed as teachers or poly students. Din really take pictures coz by the time I reached, no more mood as was feeling sleepy and tired (after walking so much). Should have gone home and take a nap 1st... hahaha...
Anyway will post the pictures after getting them from the camera woman.

The overall of the nite was ok la, better compared to the years b4. Not that we had a better committee coz I believed everyone worked as hard each year but we have more budget to spend as years go by. The food was surprising quite good but I was not so hungry so din really eat much. But what I ate most is the turkey which was available only once a year near Xmas. The entertainment company was quite ok as they have an all rounder emcee, who was an Australian woman, with her helpers, a Malay guy and a Chinese gal. The emcee was witty, talented and definitely good at entertaining the crowd with her dancing and singing. They actually sang mandarin and hokkien songs too. They were really quite good even though they were not chinese. Money sure is not easy to earn nowadays.

Among all I just found the 1st game rather bo liao. We were split into 2 groups and started by having everyone going out to the front area (dancing floor area) in few seconds. After that, within seconds we have to take off our shoes and leave them there and run back to our seats. Next they messed up our shoes and expected us to run to the front again to get back our shoes in seconds and see which group finished 1st. I couldn't find one of my shoe and was panicking after the session ended. Damn pissed off by then but luckily found it hidden under our table. One of the colleague on our table (which was near the stage) actually grabbed some shoes and threw back at our area to let our group find our shoes faster. Dunno whether should thank or scold him man...

Some colleagues still could not find their shoes as other games proceeded that we finally had to ask the emcee to announce for people to start helping to find lost shoes. This stupid game then finally came to an end after everyone got back their shoes. The games that followed were sort of entertaining (although was feeling bored at some point of time), especially during the best dressed couple contest. Some colleagues who were nominated were really good performers! Such talent would have been hidden if not for this D&D. We had quite abit of laughter until I was feeling so warm and bloated.

The nite went quite fast as long services awards and lucky draw prizes were given out amidst the entertainment and games. I got myself a 5-year long service award of $100 and won the 12th prize in the lucky draw (a Swatch Leather strap watch - which was quite ugly).

It was then mass dancing time b4 going into disco time. We went out to take a break and chatted outside until time for the late night draw at 11.45pm. Obviously I did not win the prize of a 32" LCD TV. We then left while others party on. Called a cab and shared with my colleague who stays in AMK. Really tired by the time I got home coz was having a headache again due to the heat and excitement plus sleepiness and tireness.

My auntie
Went with parents and sis to visit auntie in TTSH this morning. She had an operation remove about 1/4 of her tongue and 2 veins coz it was infected with cancer. She quite poor thing coz she had diabetes some years back and had it under control but this had to happen. Hopefully after this operation, the cancer will not spread. She also need to go for chemo treatment after this, about 30 sessions I heard which will cost at least 50k+. Luckily one of her son bought medishield for her and it might pay off about 1/2 of the chemo fees.

Her husband was the uncle who passed away recently. We also heard she had finally been able to enjoy life now that all her children are grown up, and she finally is a Singapore Citizen some years back. As she was from Malaysia and she did not register her marriage with my uncle, she was a wanderer for years. She also managed to buy a flat some years back but now this had to happen. Wish that she would recover soon.

Too much walking
Went off to meet Web and we went to Vivocity. Walked a couple of rounds and we were both quite tired. There were many people as expected but not as bad as the last time I went with sis. The outdoor pool on the 3rd floor was also opened and there were already many kids playing in the pool. Some even came geared with swimming costumes! Its like a picnic ground for families and swimming pool for kids. Some of the shops were also opened on the 3rd floor, like Diaso. This is the 3rd branch in Singapore after IMM and PS, and was quite big but smaller than the one at IMM. The one at PS is damn small and always packed with people. Hope this will not be like the 1.99 shop trend (meaning open too many shops and end up close down).

Left shortly and went back to PS to have our late lunch (or rather tea time...). Surprising the crowd at PS was lesser as we suspected all probably migrated to Vivocity. Walked abit after lunch then walked down to Orchard area, Centerpoint, Heeren then Taka. Our last stop was at MOS Burger again for our favourite milk tea.

Weird
Went online to renew my library book at the NLB website then realised something weird. Wanted to venture how to pay bills (fines etc) online then tried to login. When I typed in my particulars to get a new account, it prompted me that a username with the details was already registered. But there was only an option to click if you forget your password but not your username, which is quite silly. So when I tried several common usernames that I might have use, "shirleysoh" worked. But when the password prompt question came out asking for my favourite colour, I tried a few and got it correct. The answer is quite a common colour but I dunno why I "put" that colour. I then login and changed my password. While trying to update my particulars while inside, realised the name, ic no., address etc are all wrong. It was someone by the name of Shirley Soh Sun Sun, also born in 1973. How coincidental can it be... and I was alarmed that there is this loophole in the NLB system. I then quickly wrote to the person with the email address registered explaining what happened.

I still did not manage to find my account username so will probably try to call on Monday to enquire and feedback on this ridiculous incident. Of coz there might not be any harm coz you cun borrow books online but just to play safe, NLB should develop a better secured system as personal information might fall into the wrong hands.
