Our flat is ready!!

Guess wat!!! We are collecting keys on 11 Apr 07!! Just checked the HDB website using my login (given by HDB) and saw the good news! Web was saying that his mum said a big and thick envelope from HDB came today but he got to work tonite and I am too anxious so tried my luck to check online 1st. Cun explain my feeling now, I am so EXCITED and HAPPY!!!

Supposed to meet one reno fren of mine as he has completed the proposed design and quote for our house but had to postpone the appointment coz Web was delayed by his training, somemore at Telepark (Tampines). Thus, I took a train down from Bugis and waited for him about 20 mins b4 we proceeded for dinner. Walked around abit and headed back to Raffles City. Hanged around until 11pm (when all the doors starting closing) as I came home and he's back to work. He will probably need to work till 4-5am, poor thing...

Dun want to win also cannot!

Troublesome me!!

I have been changing either the design or colour of my ROM dress since I signed up the BS on 17 Mar 07 (Sat). The 1st design we finalised on that day itself, was too emphasized on the bust area which I later felt that I dun quite like it. Originally was using 2 tones of purple but wanted to go for something more colourful. Also requested to change the design to put less attention on the bust area when we went down last Sat.

I then chose the 3rd design she drew and colourful (4 colours) chiffon cloth for the top layer and purple for the base. She then suggested that she will get more new cloth samples for me so I went down again just this Wednesday to take a look. Gave up the colourful chiffon coz felt that I will look abit auntie. The designer then proposed I use the new type of satin-like cloth in tones of pink to red.

While I was searching for bridal bouquet just now during lunch, admitted to myself that I dun quite like the pink to red cloth. I would want to go for something solid all the way, yet looked colourful until I came across this combination bouquet of red and yellow. Gave me the idea that I can use red (bright red or maroon red) to match with orangy yellow for my dress. I think I still prefer LOUD colours...

Called the BS and talked to my designer, Vivian, again about my idea. She said its ok and she can help me get some cloth samples and let me know to go down again soon. I sure hope its the last time coz I dun want to keep bothering her too, as she already is on a tight schedule to rush my ROM dress by end of May.

Initially din want red coz if I wear the KUA, it will still be red. My favourite colour is naturally red and I think I still feel more comfortable with it. Furthermore, since I am going to keep the dress, just have to make it something I will like very much... No point compromising and regret later...

Well at least Vivian is really a nice and patient lady... and very accommodating too. Else I think she will bang the wall each time!! Hahaha...

Plans for honeymoon!

Thanks to my colleague who reminded me that we should not delay honeymoon for too long else would lose that kind of feeling so I talked to Web the other day about it. He agreed to take our honeymoon, probably from Nov/Dec/Jan depending on the season and leave etc. Both of us are entitled to 5 consecutive days of marriage leave from our companies but mine can only be taken on the same year as our registered date of marriage (ROM date). We wanted to avoid school holidays too so we can have some peace throughout and save on surcharge for peak seasons. Will need to check with my HR again on the leave.

Planned to go Korea (1st choice) or Japan (but quite ex) and wanted to go during winter to experience the snow and cold weather. Cun think of any other place coz Web dun like neighbouring countries like Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia. Western countries are far too ex and too far (long travelling time, need many days of leave, costly and especially currency exchange rate).

I hope we are going to other countries apart from Hong Kong (my favourite) and Australia (been there twice). Even worse come to worst, still can consider Australia coz it has many cities to go. I have been to Gold Coast (2002), Sydney (2002) and Perth (2004) so far and there are many more lovely places in Australia like Tasmania, Darwin and Melbourne etc.

Looks like need to shelve my plan with sis to HK/ Taiwan again for this year coz both of us no munnei ($$$). Hopefully can go next year... Haven't been overseas the whole of 2006 and felt so deprived!!

We are now looking at different travel agencies' sites for their tour packages to Korea. We are more keen on tours going to places like the filming location site (Nami Island) where the two main characters of the Korean series "Winter Sonata" fall in love. Also hope can go skiing as its a once in a lifetime experience so definitely must go during winter.

Will probably check out travel agents once we settle our house and customary. Need to start saving more!!!

Shine, rain & shine again...

Went lunch with colleagues and to Bugis for some shopping, then it rained very heavily. We only have one umbrella (mine) so shopped while we waited for the rain to stop. Its not getting any lighter thus we took a cab back to office. The queue at Parco Bugis Junction was damn long, as expected on a rainy day so we walked over to Hotel Intercontinental side to wait. Only took us less than 10 mins and we got a cab! fare was only $4, quite cheap than to buy an umbrella at $6 each (for 3 of them, means $6 x 3 = $18) from Giordano.

Met sis after work to visit my BS again to decide on the cloth to be used for my ROM dress. Eevntually chose the pink/red one and no more colourful cloth coz thought might look abit auntie. Left shortly after for dinner at Maxwell Market. I wasn't too hungry so just had fish soup w/o rice and sis had fish bee hoon soup. We sort of chose the wrong food coz its damn warm there, and we had to leave as soon as we finished.

Walked down to Chinatown and checked out a shop selling those traditional chinese stuff for wedding (The Bliss Collection), which is just beside the overhead garden bridge to People's Park Complex. Will probably drop by again nearer to my AD (actual wedding day).

Sidetrack abit, there are so many terms used in forums like BS (Bridal Studio), AD (Actual day), PS (photoshoot), BTB (bride-to-be), HTB (husband-to-be), MUA (make-up artist) and many more... So get to use to them while I type ok...

Right, back to the topic. We then went over to OG and browsed abit while both of us started feeling tired (sis felt sleepy too). We then took bus 143 back to Toa Payoh Interchange, bought some bread for breakfast (and my lunch) b4 heading home.

Family dinner

Went for our usual family dinner at the CC where my dad plays badminton (Toa Payoh West CC) on Tuesdays. The restaurant (or so called cafe) has been around for quite a no. of years. We thought it had closed down but apparently they are able to survive till now. Cun even remember how the food taste like but to our surprise, the food was great and cheap! Ordered 5 dishes with rice to share and only cost us ard $30. Should be coming back for more!!

Bro drove to Bishan Junction 8 with the rest of us after dad went back to his badminton game. We walked around aimlessly until final stop at NTUC, which we naturally spent the most time and bought quite alot of stuff since got transport. Even bumped into Yan cousin in the foodcourt when sis went to buy drinks while I visited the restroom. She was there to buy a digital camera for her next coming trip to Australia. Told her if she cun find a suitable one, can always borrow from me.

Was talking to Peggy and had the idea of getting some soft toys for our bridal cars' decor. But dunno what to get coz din want those common characters people used b4 and constantly using. I thought of "Little Twin Stars" but dunno where to find and would be quite ex too. Meanwhile will just keep a lookout for cute and special ones.

Express pedicure

Went for an express pedicure during lunch at a newly opened manicure shop at the Concourse. Passed by couple of weeks ago and finally decided to give it a try after resting my nails (no paint) for quite some time coz there's traces of fungus development again. Its a shorter walk than to Bugis and so much cheaper. Its only $12, one of those cheapest ard my working area. The other shop which I tried once and dun quite like on the 1st floor of the concourse charges only $10.

This is a new colour by Opi, reddish gold as introduced by the manicurist.

Phew!

After many weeks of waiting and watching one episode per week, I finally finished watching 转角*遇到爱 on youtube last nite. The last few episodes quite siong, I cried and cried until mouth so aching and eyes so swollen. Nice show though...

Its been quite sometime since I was last hooked on youtube shows coz too busy with other stuff. Not much new or interesting shows and I need a rest after continuously watching too. The only show now pending is the "親親小爸" but I have since stopped weeks ago. Not so nice coz I dunno any of the actors/ actresses so will only continue when too bored...

Hot Sunday

Met Web at AMK again and hanged around at AMK Hub. There was a recording for a variety show by Kym Ng and Chew Chor Meng so we stood for almost 1 hr plus watching coz nothing to do. The show is about getting 3 audiences to dress up as past TV serials stars and they will then compete to win $488 in cash. Those audiences were quite thick skin I would say and damn free! The process took almost from morning till we left at 5pm, they have yet to start recording the competition part. One gal was quite pretty so we guessed she would win. Will see if we are right soon (provided we catch this show on tv in Apr).

We then walked around a bit b4 going to MOS burger for a drink, meantime waiting for the freelance photographer to come by to meet us. Had arranged to meet him to discuss on the photoshoot details for our actual day (AD). He told us, esp the bride to relax during the day but I felt he was quite shy instead. Maybe ice between us still not broken. He's also not so vocal but overall should be ok coz I saw his portfolio on his website and somehow find them quite good. He charges $530 for 2 half days (my case) and will have unlimited shots returned to us in DVD. There was one who charges $400 with max. 300 shots but his photos were so so only. Unless we find someone as good and cheaper, else we will probably confirm with him in July as agreed once we have the timings from the shifu (going to visit him in July again).

After that we hanged around in the library again as the weather was damn hot, b4 having dinner at A* again. Walked to the central stage and saw there was some KTV performance by RC members so we sat for a while. We then realised we were the youngest audiences there as the crowd got lesser. Eventually bored by those old numbers and tortured by screeching voices, we left for home.

Lucky again!

Hot day!!

Went down to my bridal studio (BS) again as need to discuss my ROM dress design with the designer, Vivian. Finally decided on one design but suddenly I felt need to add sleeves now. It was a tube like dress with colourful cloth as requested by me. Anyway will need to drop by again next Wed so will see how then. If adding sleeves is quite easy, can just wait for the end result 1st.

We actually got nowhere to go as our appointment was at 3.30pm thus met ard 1.30pm then hanged around Tanjong Pagar area. Even met my cousin Zhen while walking to Amara Hotel side and realised she just off from work. Told her we were taking a walk 1st b4 heading to our bridal studio and she was alarmed that we are getting married. Guessed no one else were told outside our family, and sis said that in no time most of the closer relatives would know now!

We shopped abit then crossed opposite, bought some 4Ds and toto, hoping can strike something then took a break at the hawker centre for some desserts. It was damn hot today and I even forgot to bring my rubber band! Not sure if I have dropped it somewhere or what...

We then walked down Tanjong Pagar Rd to take a look at the BSs there. Alot were quite jialat coz someone would stand outside and "pull" business. We eventually escaped the area and walked to the next street where our BS is. We were early by 45 mins but decided to go in anyway, at least can take a break and perhaps go through their sample albums again.

There were only one couple and their fren there, and we were served by the assistant, Fannie. Vivian came by after a while when the store manager went to attend to the group. We heard that bride-to-be saying budget ard $6k, we almost dropped our jaws. Later when we heard the manager saying whole package will be $7668, we almost fell off from our sofa!! Some people really rich and generous leh. We suspected they could have strike toto or what...

Finally settled by 3.30pm and walked down to Chinatown (so hot that I was having a headache by the time we boarded the shutter) and took the shutter bus to Great World City for a movie. Who knows its extremely crowded there but anyway the show (Pathfinder) we had wanted to watch was not showing there. We then took the shutter bus back to Chinatown and took a bus to Jurong East. Went IMM then Jurong central for dinner and hanged out at the Ice Skating rink again b4 heading home. It was very windy by the time we came out and it was quite chilling. As our train moved off, we could see lightning and heard thunder. It then rained quite heavily nearer to AMK.

So I very naughty, took a pic of her while going down the escalator...

ROM dress

Finally decided to go for a MTM ROM dress at my bridal studio. Called my designer, Vivian up to try to bargain and told her other bridal studio can offer me lower price and see if she is able to match coz no matter what, its easier and more logical to get from one place.

After much persuasion, she called me back and agreed to make it special for me once more, at $450 (after discussion with the store manager). I still find it too ex thus continued to ask for a better price, she agreed to discuss with her manager again and call me back. It was a longer wait and when she called, she said their best is offer me at $400 which really is a good price. I told her I will contact her again coz I might want to change the design instead of the one she drew for me last Sat. Would of coz want a better looking and one I truly like since I will be keeping it.

Told Web about it and he asked me to go ahead, to save all my headaches. He mentioned that they have been so accommodating to me so I might as well take it. He even offered to pay for it but I said its not about money. The initial quote of $500 could be seen as reasonable or expensive, depending on the design and materials of the dress. I would want my $500 to be worth it and try to avoid people slaughtering me for that. After doing much research, realised that MTM dresses are more or less above $300 so I felt better after negotiating for it again.

Met sis after work, initially to shop at more places but since I will go ahead with my BS, we headed straight to dinner then some shopping. While at Metro, we saw the "Monsoon" range of dresses, costing about $443 a piece and the materials are crap (lousy cloth)! I felt more assured that $400 for a MTM dress is indeed quite worth it, somemore I get something which will suit me and to my liking. Even the dresses at Tangs and Robinsons cost at least $250+ each, somemore they are just over-the-rack kind. I want something unique and not found anywhere else (to save from seeing whole street of people wearing same thing).

I have more or less one headache now, and hope I am on the right track. I do appreciate the BS for doing so much for me (adhering to all my requests, terms and requests), on top of adding so much extra stuff to their usual package. Well, maybe I am too innocent (too gullible with sales people, sales tactics etc.) but I believed I am paying for a good package and good service.

Wedding matters

After settling our wedding stuff bit by bit, I am now searching for photographers for the actual and wedding dinner, as well as car with chauffeur. Then the most headache will be still my ROM dress/ gown.

Managed to get some advice and intro over the forum thus contacted some freelance amateur photographers whose works are quite good but charges are high too. Right now, pure photography services without prints will cost around $400 to $680, with all pictures in a DVD or CDs. Am also asking for Peggy coz they also dun have photography included in her package thus hope can get a better bargain too.

I also asked from an old fren who does photography in a studio and he told me will usually cost $1k plus for professional and counted as 2 days for my case. I also asked my colleague cum irc fren for her quote coz I know she does freelance or sort of trying to do so, and thought she would charge me minimal as we know each other but she quoted me $750! Its so much more than a professional and she even told me before she quoted that she is not a professional. I almost fainted and told her straight its damn ex... Then she said the best she can go is $700 and told me usually people charge $750 a day. Ya I also know, but they are professionals leh... how to compare and quote like that... my toes were even laughing at that time. Din want to pursue further coz engaging her now is TOTALLY out of the question. Am quite disappointed with her, considering we have been frens for so long now...

As for the chauffeured car, I managed to find a company which charges quite low at $450 for 12 hrs for a normal merc car. They are also flexible in the sense that they can drive over to the bridal shop for tying of ribbons the previous nite or get the ribbons/ flowers from our bridal shop and they tie them. Should be finalising with them soon to secure the booking (need to pay deposit).

I am still searching for cheap tailor to custom-made my ROM dress. Last resort I will go to Peggy's BS (Bridal Studio) as they charge only $300 to $400 and I will be able to keep. The designer also mentioned she can work within my budget, which I might try to explore with my current BS too as they quoted me $500 is really much too ex. On the other hand, was thinking should just get a normal dress coz my ROM will be a small affair only with less than 20 people.

I had just intended to rent for free (only pay laundry charges) from my BS but Web mentioned I should buy/ make and keep coz its an important chapter for me. This also started all the headaches I am having now. I have been having sleepless nights becoz of my ROM dress so hope can settle soon. It should be more crucial than anything else now.

Damn tired shopping day

Took half day off to meet sis to search for my ROM dress and her for dresses to attend both me and bro's wedding dinners. Sis went to sign an appointment letter for a 3 months contract as Web Designer b4 meeting me. She started work today and her working hrs are from 8am to 5pm! Tough man...

We had lunch at Yoshinoya PS then walked down to Somerset area trying to look for one building then realised its actually at Orchard Hotel area. We then walked all the way down, passing by Tangs to check out their dresses. As expected, none suited me as all too small size. Most were also tube dresses so not suitable for sis as well.

We were already quite tired by then so took a break at Mac with drinks at Shaw Centre. After that, we slowly made our way to Delfi Orchard and it started drizzling. Upon reaching, we finally found the shop after walking couple of rounds and you know what, the shop is closed!! What luck...

So we took a bus down to Millenia Walk 1st to check out a shop selling ring pillows and other accompanying accessories like wrist corsages, ang bao boxes, guest books and photo albums. After much consideration, bought a silver ribbon ring pillow with small flowers topped with Swaroski crystals. Had wanted to get a purple or light green one, but realised quite difficult to match any dress so got a more neutral one. Will probably check out their guest books and photo albums later for new stocks.

Walked to Marina Square next and took a break then realised we were both abit hungry. Went to the food court and shared a bowl of Korean Spicy Ramen and roti pratas. After buidling up our strength again, we walked to Raffless City through the City Link and checked out Marks & Spencer 1st. Nothing much there so walked to our next destination, Lavender, which specialises in dress at Stamford House. The dresses were nice but they do not tailor made anymore so we left after browsing.

We then took a bus back to Orchard, wanting to check out another shop at Shaw Centre. We left then got an sms from Peggy saying there's one there. We took a wrong bus coz I wasn't quite concentrating and alighted behind Wisma. Walked down to Wheelock Place and passed by Marks & Spencer again but found nothing much there too. Finally saw that shop but upon seeing their collection from outside, really cannot make it coz all quite auntie and too flowery.

Not giving up, we walked down to Paragon and then Taka. No luck still so took a break b4 our last stop at Isetan Orchard. Sis managed to find a top and a semi-dress (go with pants or jeans) but I cun find anything after trying on a couple pieces.

We were damn tired by the time we got home, all my legs muscles aching big time... Managed to cool them down using ointment and medicated plasters and felt better this morning.

Updates

Finally settled my Bridal Studio package last Saturday. Made an appointment with them on Fri and went down after a movie with Web at GWC. The Bridal Studio (BS) is located at Tras street, the street with shophouses beside Amara Hotel. The whole street houses quite a few BS and I have chose "Signoria Nuziale" after much research over bridal magazines and forum. The mai thing that attracted me was the fantasy/ fairytale metallic pictures (you can check out their website) coz these are very unique compared to any other studios. Like I mentioned, I dun like those too natural pictures coz its so common and can take anytime.

I managed to negotiate for my package with reference from some research and oveall quite pleased. It might be abit more ex with less thrills but for a designer BS, I think its quite worth it. Its rather difficult to compare every package from each BS coz everything is different, from designers, designs, materials, service, photography, effects and overall experience. Researching does help as I finally found something I truly wanted.

I will be having my wedding gown and evening gown made-to-measure (MTM) there. The designer, Vivian had already proposed and will start making my wedding gown. Evening gown will be later as its easier to make. I was thinking of getting my ROM dress there, but its too ex (costs ard $500 to MTM and keep). They had initially agreed on renting a ROM dress to me FOC but Web said that I should keep it. They had initially quoted me $300 MTM ROM dress but I thought I could keep it. After calling back to verify, realised cannot and need to top up and the cost is way above my budget so have to give it a miss. Guess I would need to find some shops to tailor-made one.

Sunday
Finally managed to do the registration for our ROM on 2 June 07. It will be a small affair on Saturday with only a few frens of ours with our own family and just 3 days b4 my bro's customary day!

Went KTV in AMK with Web coz after weeks of running around settling the wedding stuff, we need a break. Din sing much coz not exactly in the mood. Had dinner at the hawker centre again b4 hanging around in the library and AMK Hub.

Saturday
Managed to contact the 1st solemniser on our list (near Novena Square) and he agreed to do the solemnisation for us. Will need to fax to him an official invitation form on Monday.

Watched the movie "300" at GWC. The movie was ok, except its fighting all the way. The effects were good too. Rushed down to the BS after the movie as we grabbed some buns 1st. Took a bus from GWC to somewhere in Shenton Way b4 walking down. Alighted at the wrong bus stop (one stop earlier) so had to walk a bit further.

After spending 2 hrs+ at the BS with viewing of photo albums, discussion of the package, signing up, measurements and one fitting, we left for dinner at Raffles City's MOS Burger.

Friday
Web skipped his D&D so we did out hunting for a venue for our ROM solemnisation lunch. After dinner at a coffee shop at Boat Quay, we ventured around the area looking for suitable venues. We had initially planned at Novena Square's Lao Beijing but thought could find something else 1st. Had wanted Peony Jade but its booked on the day we wanted, no choice. Eventually after much searching, we went down to Novena Square and confirmed the venue with a deposit. Overall its quite nice and menu quite reasonable so we took it. Finally settled another headache.

We then took a walk ard then realised the new shopping centre is open, but cun remember the name. It located just behind Novena Square, near the new medical hub by TTSH. There's another place for shopping again although the building's not very big.

Damn sian!

I am feeling damn sian... sian sian sian sian sian!!! (why doesn't the font go any bigger???)

Anyway always dread coming to work nowadays. The minute I see my boss' stupid face, is sian plus sian = super sian. Not enough zzzz everyday coz kept dozing off in the evening then stone for the rest of the night, until very late then able to sleep... system haywire liao...

Was talking to Web yesterday and was quite upset for a while. We were talking about bridal stidios then he commented that he rather spend more on the house as it will be a long term investment, instead of spending on the bridal package. Seriously not that it matters so much to me, but if do might as well do it well, get something nice (wedding gown at least) and great photos to look at until eternity. I also wun want too ex a package but its all around 3k mah, what can I do about it?

Its not easy choosing a bridal studio coz we want to get a good package (inclusive of all services if possible) with good photography, wedding gowns and service but at a competitive price. Worse come to worst, will go for what Peggy choosen coz at least the bargain is there already. Just trying to understand what exactly I want for my own wedding gown. I am thinking of letting go of getting a ROM package to save some money... let's see how.

Then next came the issue of photography on the wedding day itself and night of the wedding dinner. If need to get means need to, ex also bo bian... as if I purposely must go find someone ex. The problem is that if we get someone cheap or FOC, the results might be disastrous. I wouldn't want to smile and pose the whole day only resulting in getting crap shots or worse, blur ones. Now headache is getting someone who charges cheap and is good... tell me where to find... hai~~ Probably need to check with the bridal studio (when I find one) if they include this service.

Suddenly I dun feel like getting married. There are so much stuff to prepare and end up creating quite a bit of differences here and there. If I had a choice, I'd rather have it simple, no wedding dinner and all those stupid traditions stuff, just a ROM will do. Then we wun have to worry over alot of things like wedding banquet locations/ invitations etc. or bridal studio. End of the day, its his family side which eventually wanted a wedding dinner so we have no choice. Him being the eldest grandson cannot just get married anyhow so bo bian.

Next when I think of how I gonna move my stuff over to the new house, I wanna faint. Of coz need alot of time to tidy abit and throw all the unwanted stuff 1st then pack the rest. Hopefully the house will be ready by end of August or at least mid September, so that we can officially move in after our customary end of September.

The minute we get our house keys, there's umpteen stuff to do. We haven't confirm any renovation firms yet so will need to do so as soon as possible. After all the renovation, we have to start spending money buying furniture and electrical appliances etc. Its gonna be a busy year for us until everything is settled, hopefully by end of the year.

I am starting to feel myself stressed up again, although I have been taking it easy. Stress is something always inside us but we tend not to detect. Its always the doctor who tells me I am stressed! Hopefully I dun get headaches in the following months to come...

Monday..

The HDB loan is still pending for approval. They said they go batch by batch so asked us to give them another 2 weeks then check again...

Busy in meeting whole afternoon so dun feel so sleepy like in the morning. No mood to work at all coz its Monday...

Met Xris for dinner at Pasta Mania and passed her stuff, shopped for a while and headed home. The weather was damn hot and we were perspiring while walking!

Fell asleep just now after reading a wedding magazine bought just now, now woke up feeling abit stone...

Damn hot today

Its yet another tiring and hot day, I had a headache since evening time after the bus ride from Harbourfront to AMK central. Went down to 88 Restaurant to confirm our booking and pay the deposit after discussion on the package. We managed to negotiate for use of the main hall and other free stuff which comes only if we book 25 tables and above. At the moment, our confirmed tables will be 20 and 2 spare tables.

Spent the rest of the day in AMK from dinner at the hawker centre to the library and lastly our favourite joint - MOS Burger.

Browsed through a bridal magazine at the library and noted down some bridal salons' websites to surf through tomorrow. Now too tired...

More restaurant hunting

Web had to work today so we had arranged to meet earlier so I woke myself up early at 9am+, showered and stoned. Waited till 10am+ still no hear from him so had my breakfast (myojo mee) and continued to stone.

In the end, we decided to meet at 12.45pm at Dhoby Ghaut mrt stn and I brought my heavy laptop out. It was so heavy and me being half stoned, swayed while I walked with the heavy backpack. We had decided to bring it out in case we need to find some info from the net. Web will carry it anyway so bring lor... (btw my shouders abit aching already even though I only carried it to and back home).

Web had left earlier even though the job was not completed coz he said dunno delay till when and since his colleagues were still there. Went straight to the foodcourt 1st as he was damn hungry and I watched him eat (still feeling quite full). We then walked around abit b4 dropping by Mac to start using their wireless to surf. The stupid network obviously wasn't quite easy to get connected as will need to register b4 use. The network name was also not obvious and I had to trial an error. The initial network I used was the Singtel Wireless@SG but the signal was damn terok. Eventually managed to sign on using the Singtel network as signing into Mac network got lots of problems. Surfed for a while and made some calls and decided to go down Chinatown again to check out Spring Court Restaurant.

We did not look at the 3rd floor and when I called, the manager was not able to describe the place to me. End up the 3rd floor, which can accommodate up to max 18 tables (but will be very cramped), is split into 2 sides, worse than the 1st floor which only has pillars blocking - totally out of the question. After taking a second look at the 1st floor, I still dun like the place and Web said have to take if really no choice as its a good location.

We then walked over to Furama hotel to check on their restaurant but their manager was off today so we were told to call back Mon-Fri. Weird that restaurants managers can actually work 5 days week, especially when in service line. Anyway we dun quite like the hotel as its rather old and had a weird smell on the restaurant/ function rooms floor. Walked over to Riverside Mall to check out the Jumbo Seafood Restaurant but seems like its more of an outdoor setting so skipped. We passed by another rstaurant (Peony Jade) as we reached Clarke Quay. I like the restaurant setting (a darker concept but looked romantic) but all the dates from September are fully booked! No choice la, since no dates and Web dun really like it, he found it too dark compared to 88 Restaurant (Harbourfront Tower 2).

Finally last stop to Tunk Lok Restaurant (which is very last choice coz quite ex and not too accessible - ulu building) but found out that Liang Court will be starting renovation for the whole building from April 07 for at least 1.5 years. Feeling so tired and warm by then so stopped by at Mac again. Bought a drink as we realised there was a power outlet at our table and thus happily started up the laptop again, struggled for 10 mins to get connected to Mac's network and finally it worked! Had to register again as another name as the earlier one dunno go where... The network was unfortunately damn slow, really crawling and the whole laptop became slow too, dunno why.

Finally gave up after surfing some sites and played games instead. Discussed about the restaurants and finally decided to take 88 Restaurant afterall since we both like the place but will be either a Fri or Sun after our customary day for the dinner (meaning 2 different days). Called up the restaurant and made tentative reservations 1st on 2 dates while Web will need to go back and discuss with his parents then we will go down and pay deposit asap to secure the place. Sat until almost hungry then took a bus back to Orchard to have Subway sandwiches for dinner. Walked over to DFS to rest and nua on the comfi sofa till 15 mins b4 their closing time then left for home.

Restaurant hunting

Its a busy day as I was on mc the day b4. Supposed to have an IT meeting yesterday but due to my absence, it was postponed and I had to arrange again obviously. These people in my dept just cun be more independent... hai~

Initially decided to postpone the meeting to next Tuesday but one colleague said she might take leave, coz its school holidays so I tried asking my boss if 10am was ok. Another colleague will be on leave in the afternoon so cun too. She replied yes so as I proceeded to arrange and inform everyone, trying to kapok a room from a colleague as all other rooms were fully occupied. Then my boss called me and told me she cun make it coz need to rush out something... *many lines*. So I had no choice but to put in on Monday afternoon, very unwillingly as Mondays are always blue! Where got mood to have meeting, somemore with her!!

Was thinking whether to go lunch shopping or not until some colleagues dragged me along to the IT Show. Din want to go coz nothing much to buy and it will be damn crowded, which I hate. Anyway went with them coz cun make up my mind too and true enough, it was damn packed. The weather was also especially hot but lucky I had my umbrella with me! Really cun do without an umbrella nowdays, call me auntie I dun care... I rather stay away from the harmful rays of the sun and spoil my beautiful face hahaha...

Met Web at Chinatown after work to start our wedding banquet venue hunting. Started off with Spring Court at Upper Cross Street (shophouses opp Hong Lim/ Chinatown Point) but found the hall (1st floor) too cramped and too many pillars. Most of the people probably wun be able to view the low and small stage. We then had our dinner at the nearby chicken rice coffeeshop then took a bus down to check out the next restaurant (Habour City) on our list at PSA building. The restaurant looked ok but abit out of the place and too far. It was also located inside an office building thus quite quiet after office hours.

Left the place wanting to take a bus down to Harbourfront but took the wrong one as it headed to Jurong side (wrong direction and not going to Harbourfront). We had no choice but to alight few bus stops down and crossed the road to take another bus to Harbourfront. Luckily got some rebates else really waste money. Finally reached Harbourfront Centre and checked out the 88 Restaurant 1st at Harbourfront Tower 2. We liked the place as we enter as it was spacious and bright, with a few crystal chandaliers at the tall ceiling. Unfortunately, the date we wanted had been booked thus we need to either look at other dates or find other restaurants.

Walked over to Harbourfront Centre to check out the next restaurant (Dragon Gate) on the 4th floor. It was quite difficult to find if you go by the wrong lift. Its actually at the side where the cruise centre is thus we had to walk through the carpark as we used the lift from Harbourfront Centre. This restaurant was where my friend last held her wedding banquet about 6 years ago. Its been a long time and I really had vivid impressions of the place. The big hall was too big for us and the smaller one was too small. The other medium size one had been booked. Anyway we dun quite like the place as its too inaccessible.

Finally able to take a break after all the running around and had a drink at Mac b4 leaving for home. Will need to check out more restaurants tomorrow...

Not enough jam

Wanted to have bread for breakfast, then took out 2 slices and realised my jam only enough for one slice so bo bian lor... have to spread it out enough for 2 slices...

So cham like that...

Headache again...

Felt a headache again as I woke up in the morning so decided to take mc for the day. Woke up at 12pm+ to wash up and went back to lie down as the headache was still there. Fell asleep on and off until almost 4pm!! What a long sleep! Quite shiok and luckily by the time I woke up, headache more or less subsided. Took some headache pills after my breakfast cum lunch and dinner.

Got letters from AIA acknowledging surrender of my 2 cpf investment policies and surprised that the surrender value was 8k more than my invested amount. At least din make the wrong decision to invest afterall. One policy was in 2002 and earned me ard 5k while the later one in 2004 earned 3k. Managed to call earlier to enquire how fast can the funds be transferred back into my cpf account and was told that I need to submit a formal request to my investment bank else it will take abt 2 months. With the request, it will be credited on the next working day. Should be in time b4 we get our keys and make payment.

As I did not have internet banking facility linked and conveniently forgot my phone banking pin (which I never used b4 anyway), had to submit a manual form to UOB either through the branch or mail. Dun think will pass by any UOB banks so had it prepared for mail except that I cannot find any stamps at home. Will need to purchase from the SAM machine tomorrow while on the way to work at Bugis mrt station.

Supposed to meet Xris for dinner to pass her the eye cream I helped her to buy but had to cancel the appointment as I was sick and the eye cream is in the office. Probably will see if she will pass by anywhere I will be tomorrow evening or probably meet her next week b4 she flies off to Canada for a month plus.

Tiring day

Had an early offsite meeting (they call it Town Hall Meeting) at Pan Pacific Hotel at 8.30am. Woke up ealier than usual to run my daily sales update from home 1st then took mrt to City Hall mrt and tried to take a shutter bus over to either Suntec or Millenia. Thinking that Millenia should be nearer, asked the man in charge where the queue was going to when he asked me where I am heading. Said Millenia and he told me to go over to Raffles Hotel side as this queue was for Suntec.

I decided to go Suntec instead of wasting time walking over when he saw me and came over to grumble saying "I cun stop you queuing here but usually when our staff go over the other side, they refuse to let our people board... and blah blah blah..." I tried to explain I can go either way but with him grumbling so I said nevermind and put my earphones back on and just stood in the queue and waited.

On the way, I suddenly recalled I could take any public bus from Raffles Hotel to Marina Sq's bus stop which is much nearer but it too late anyway. It took almost 10 mins+ to reach Suntec's bus stop (at the convention centre) and was alomst 10 mins to 8.30am so quickly walked over to Marina Sq then down the escalator to the hotel lobby. There were already many people there while I got some seats for myself and colleagues.

Almost fell asleep during the meeting and was so hungry throughout. Thought breakfast would be provided so din buy anything to makan b4 I came and had to wait till a teabreak ard 9pm++ then had quite alot. The meeting ended ard 11am and had to go back to the office instead of hanging ard till lunchtime. My colleague offered us a ride so we took her car back.

As expected, wasn't hungry during lunch so stayed back in to surf abit until finally felt the hunger pang at ard 4pm. Luckily still got bread in the office so took 2 slices with peanut butter and grape jam and some biscuits. Took a ride from colleague back home and wasn't hungry till 8pm+ then finally had my dinner. Feeling quite tired now so should be heading to bed soon...

Earthquake scare

Was quite busy in the morning till 11am+ when I was starting a spreadsheet for some licenses stuff my boss wanted when I felt my head spinning. For a while I thought I was going to blackout. Closed my eyes but the feeling was still there when I heard my colleague saying there's an earthquake! My boss and another colleague walked over as I opened my eyes and realised its indeed a tremor caused by earthquake, possibly in Indonesia, which is the only earthquake prone area nearby us.

The next moment, we were told to evacuate the building and I remembered I had recept duty but was told to evacuate anyway. The lift was still working and despite warning that we should not use the lift and we took it down anyway. Managed to take the 3rd lift as the ones before were packed with people rushing down as well. There were already so many people downstairs by the time we reached and decided to take an early lunch break. As we left in a state of panic, I just grabbed my handphone and forgot my wallet. Anyway my colleague said they can pay for me 1st so we left for lunch at the nearby low-rise buildings.

There were of coz so many people same as us and thus swamped the nearby eateries very fast. We managed to order for other colleagues who were on the way so dun have to wait too long. My colleague then sent me an sms from the latest news that the earthquake occured in West Sumatra with a richter scale of 6.6.

Walked back after lunch as we heard people saying its safe to go back. However, barely 1/2 hr passed, we experiened the second tremor and it was far longer than the earlier one. As we were more prepared and sort of anticipated, we remained calm for further instructions.

We had asked if we could go home in case there were more tremors but our MD said no coz he had experienced worse than this in Mexico. Anyway thinking there should not be any worries, we stayed on. It was almost 3pm+ when it was announced that we could go home if we feel unsafe. One of the directors actually called to give this instructions so our MD also changed his statement. We stayed for a while more and I felt the aftermath and still felt giddy to decided to leave ard 4pm+ to meet my sis, who was with Peggy at the Bridal Studio again.

I took a cab down and fetch her as Peggy's sis came by and we proceeded to Chinatown as sis needed to get some beads. It was almost 7pm when we were done and I was damn hungry. Wanted to take a bus somewhere else but it was pouring quite heavily. As sis still had a Swensen's voucher expiring soon, we went over to Chinatown Point for dinner at Swensen's.

Luckily the rain stopped when we finished and we crossed the road to take bus 143 back to Toa Payoh Central. Sis bought hamster food and we went to Kbox to top up points b4 we headed for home.

Peggy's 1st fitting

Ya finally found my toto tickets, obviously din win. Was thinking cun be so lucky... anyway nice try :P

Took half day today and joined Peggy with bro and sis to try on her wedding and evening gown at Telok Ayer Street. She had went down to several studios b4 deciding on this one coz its the only one which could accommodate their shooting schedule (due to bro's flights timings). Really admire her in which she went to quite a no. of studios all by herself except this one which she went last week with sis.

Had lunch nearby and walked over to the bridal shop. The shop looked so so la, not as nice as what sis said in her blog. I had expected a much more impressive and bigger one but ok la, still manageable. The people are quite friendly though.

Took us about 3 hrs plus there while the consultant showed me some albums 1st as we waited for the room to be available after another couple left for outdoor shoots. She showed me almost 6 albums but there was none I like. Found that their photos are so-so only and not so artistic enough. No doubt they did shots in various places which you will not expect it to be in Singapore but the pictures were too "life". Erm... meaning too near to reality kind. Might just check out other studios b4 deciding as still got ample time.

Peggy then tried on almost 5 pieces of wedding gowns but found nothing she really liked. Switched over to trying several pieces of evening gowns but none caught her liking too so she decided to have MTM (made to measure) for her evening gown. The consultant then took out a last piece meant for evening wear but looked like a wedding gown instead. Peggy liked it and we found it nice too so she took it for her wedding gown. Its a bit pinkish and quite unique, away from the usual white or off-white colours for wedding gowns. Found that the gowns aren't that nice too, if I take the same studio, might just go for MTM gowns.

We finally left after a short chat after the consultants took their measurements and had some drinks and soft buns at the nearby teh tarik store at Far East Square. We then walked around b4 sending sis to her piano lessons at 7pm while we headed home.

Was so warm when I was home and rushed to shower b4 having dinner. Mum cooked fish soup and you know what, I had fish soup for lunch too, what a fishy day! Still having stomachache since this morning, dunno why. If tomorrow still same, need to see doctor again...

Could I have won?

Was searching for my toto tickets for the ang bao draw last Friday since last night but cun find. Thinking it could be in the office coz I remembered matching for the earlier draw for 26 Feb 07 but still cun find :( Hope I din win else really luggi abt 1k+ (should be Group 3 prizes coz the list of branches for the Group 1 & 2 prizes does not include the location I bought the tickets from).

Suspected I could have thrown away accidentally after matching the last results but also not quite possible coz I remembered specifically Web told me to keep for the next draw. Even if I would have wanted to throw away, usually will check the dates 1st. I could be too stressed until I overlooked... suay man...

Keeping my fingers crossed...

Busy weekend

Its been a tiring but fruitful weekend. Went to collect our wedding bands on Friday at Suntec's Lee Hwa Jewellery and decided not to engrave our names on the rings. Reason being that its a smooth wear and will feel rough if engraved with names and as what the saleman said, we are in each other's heart, no need to engrave names on the rings as we dun remove and see anyway. Quite true la, a couple in love will have each other engraved in each other's heart... so heartwrenching...

Had dinner at the Marina Square food court again and quite crowded the Career Fair was on at Suntec. The "Qi Ji" store even had an early rest for the night as all their stuff were sold out. Walked abit then settled at Mac to discuss about our house and wedding matters till 10pm+ then went home.

Woke up early on Saturday morning (not so early but just 1 hr or more earlier than usual). Met Web at 1pm+ at YCK mrt train platform and we took a train down to Jurong East. Checked out stuff at IMM and rounded up with more discussions b4 we walked back to Jurong East Central for dinner.

Another tiring day today as we made our way to Tampines to catch a shutter bus to Ikea/ Courts. Not surprised that there were so many people and we alighted Courts 1st and checked out some electrical applicances' and furnitures' prices. They also have similar concept type layouts for bedrooms like Ikea. We particularly like 2 sofa sets and will KIV until we can spot a cheaper set. One L-shaped sofa was damn comfi and cost $1400++ while the other 3+1+1 set cost ard $1200++. We then went over to Ikea and started off with the ever famous Ikea cafe chicken wings and hotdog buns b4 starting off with big Ikea walk.

After alot of walking and deciding what to buy in future, we called it a day as we were both tired and thirsty. Good thing I had my water bottle with me so we saved in buying drinks (and trying to cut down on sweet drinks) even though we claimed 2 drinks from the Ikea friends card. Waited for the shutter bus awhile and we got some place to stand near the entrance of the bus and slowly shaked back to the Tampines mrt station.

Took bus 72 back to near YCK mrt station and cut through flats to AMK central. Went to NTUC Xtra after buying chrysanthemum tea from one of the chinese medical hall to check out prices there. Looks like we will probably buy stuff there as they are generally cheaper than elsewhere like Courts or Best Denki, plus can get NTUC points too. Bought a pancake each with a cup of bandung soya bean while we took a rest at the fountain area and left at 10pm+ for home.

Our wedding bands

Finally collected our wedding bands today. Some close up pictures...

Starting of a nightmare!

There are so many things to plan and worry now that we are heading towards a new life (and new home) together!

After securing the flat, the next thing is worry about is getting the HDB loan approved. Although the officer said that it will be approved, I still feel more at ease when we get an official confirmation. Need to check with HDB 2 weeks from the date we submitted the loan application documents, around 13 Mar 07. Now praying hard!

Next in mind is the ROM (with lunch) and wedding dinner. As we are targetting to ROM on 17 Jun 07, this is subjected to availability of venue and solemniser as booking for ROM only starts 3 months b4 the date we want.

We had wanted to avoid a wedding dinner and have a ROM lunch instead to save all the hassle but seems like not quite possible now. Web's parents came out with quite a no. of relatives to invite (else will invite gossip etc.) thus we decided to go ahead with the proper dinner coz people usually only recognises marriage after they attend a wedding dinner.

Coming up with the invitees list proved a headache too. Finally asked my parents and they confirmed to have 4 to 5 tables for their relatives and Web's side having about 7 tables. We should have about 7 more tables for our friends and colleagues thus need to start finding a restaurant (preferably coz hotel could be too ex) for the dinner. Next headache was having the dinner on a weekend as food is generally more expensive but bo bian, coz Web's relatives wun go if its on a weekday. What the heck la, if for me dun come dun come la, just bring the ang bao can liao. What to do, have to give in lor, coz they are paying for the dinner anyway, I just keep quiet and avoid any unnecessary arguements.

I also started sourcing for renovation (Interior design) contractors and approached 2 friends for help so far. Lucky thing I knew them since IRC days and hopefully they could come up with something attractive. Renovation works should start sometime in May or June, depending how fast we get our keys and after confirming who will be doing the renovation.

We need to have discussions of both the ROM and house matters over the weekend, and need to arrange for both parents to meet soon. I am taking it easy la, coz some things cannot be forced and rushed anyway but Web said I am abit bo chup. Actually dun have to worry so much la, must take it easy mah. Some people just worry too much and stress themselves out but nothing can be done or improved anyway. Just keeping my fingers crossed that we will not have any arguements b4 everything is settled. I am trying to give in whenever possible so I guess I am doing my part.

What a day!

Its been a traumatic morning...

Woke up late as usual, not that late la but about 10 mins later than supposed to be. Went out and wanted to buy mac for breakfast then realised 4got my handphone. Decided to buy breakfast for my family from mac and brought back, retrieved my handphone and left to take a cab to office.

Halfway through the taxi uncle's phone rang and happened to be from her daughter. He immediately started shouting at her and that really woke me up. Still in sleep mode when I boarded and when he was talking to me earlier, I jus "emm" but after that phone call, he talked non stop. He was practically shouting at the top of his lungs complaining about his daughter and the teacher. Seems like his daughter kept forgetting to let him sign documents or being too playful and when that happens, the teacher will ask her to get her dad to school. He then complained the teacher was a maniac who kept calling him to school over trivial matters, wasting his time and money coz he's a taxi driver, cannot afford to kept driving back to Yishun where he's staying and the school being nearby.

Luckily I reached office shortly and alighted with finally some peace. Was feeling quite hungry when I reached office, possibly with the walking around and ate my breakfast after my daily sales update.

Bz Bz Bz

Its finally Thursday. Been quite bz since came back to work on Tuesday and prior to that, not much mood to blog too. There have been so many things to do, plan and worry about now that we got our flat.

Finally talked to one friend this morning, who is doing renovation (Interior Design firm) to help to do up one quote for us 1st. Just got another friend's contact (whom I lost touch after he repeatedly changed number) and asked him to help too. Hopefully we can get a few quotes and get started once we get our keys. Now we have more to worry is whether to have just a ROM lunch or wedding dinner (which we try to avoid). Then we have to decided which date to ROM and where to have it which is economical and serves nice food.

Its been raining since yesterday afternoon till now. After so many days of hot weather, finally get cooler. This morning woke up abit late as usual and did my ales update from home so that I wun get delayed by public transport again on a rainy day. When I reached the shutter bus busstop, cun find any queue (too many people) and boarded when the shutter bus arrived and opened the door. After that I saw many people rushed up then I realised I did not queue! Problem is there might not be a queue afterall, always happen on rainy days coz the queue was usually formed outside the bus stop. Pretended to act blur lor... what to do, and luckily had music on so cun hear anyone scolding me... hahaha...

My boss is especially noisy and irritating today - can see she is damn free, lonely and talkative. She came out to talk to me over trivial matters almost once in 15 mins the whole morning. Almost want to strangle her... Most of the time I just continue my own stuff and ignored her... hahaha...
