Worker's Party Rally - 5 May 06

Went to the Worker's Party rally again yesterday at the Serangoon Stadium. Din have time for dinner thus bought KFC on the way there. The stadium was already so crowded with people streaming while we walked. Need to clear my bowels before the rally and luckily I was smart enough to go to the female changing room instead coz there was a long queue in the female toilet. There were 3 cubicles there in the changing room (with showers) and no queue! I was also kind enough to direct a lady to that side too while I was leaving. Web had already went into the stadium and I had a hard time looking for him when I stepped in. The spectators seats were almost filled up and I stood there in a daze, after failing to call Web coz of the bz phone network. Finally hooked up and realised he was at the very far end of the stadium.

While looking around, we decided it was a better view from outside the stadium, which is in front of the swimming pool as it was lifted ground. It was then my colleague who was also there, called out to me and thought I was leaving. Told her we wewe going to view from outside the stadium while she waited for her kakis.. Finally settled down sitting on newspapers and ate our dinner. Took some pictures before the rally began as people starting filling the stadium.

We looked like behind bars as you can see from the grills in the pictures...haha. So anyway, it was pretty uncomfortable sitting there as I adjusted my position from time to time during the 3+ hrs there. Somehow my legs and back cannot rest properly so ended up with backache and butt pain after the rally.

Almost around 8pm+, the stadium was quite packed at the front and the spectators seats. The back of the stadium wasn't that crowded coz the view will be blocked if seated. Those people who sat at the back practically only listened to the rally.

The crowd this time wasn't as much as the one at the Hougang field and AMK field past few days. Overall, I was surprised so many people actually came to support the WP. The topics and speech by them were quite interesting but I felt that people should listen to both sides before deciding who to vote. Luckily I dun have to vote this time again so I probably wun face such dilemma.

Had wanted to leave early to avoid the crowd but realised there is no way to squeeze out so might as well stay till the end. Decided to go for part 2 of dinner or supper as the dinner earlier wasn't really filling. Walked from the back of the stadium with the huge crowd to a roti prata store but it was too crowded. The person taking orders was like going crazy thus we just used the toilet there and left, wanting to take a bus to some part of Serangoon to eat. After waiting for quite a while, the bus that arrived was so packed and there was no way to board. The driver only stopped before the bus stop for alighting passengers. We ended up walking down about 2-3 bus stops to a coffeeshop and had fried rice and yee mee. Took a bus to AMK mrt and we parted on our ways home... Tiring day!
